I need a preschool craft project, please help?
All th parents in my daughters preschool (4’s) are asked to come in and do a craft with your talent with the children. I need to do a Christmas craft w/ them I would like yo keep the budget under 50 dollars and there is 19 children in the class so it can’t be too elaberate. Also it is a Christian school so a religous theme would also be apprecited. Scrap ideas are great as well I am looking for a fun diffrent idea… Thanks!
I did this craft with the kids I taught in preschool and they loved it. It’s an advent calendar with two parts. It will look like a lot of instructions, but it’s really simple to do. The first part is a little time consuming and you may want to do it ahead of time and just bring it with you to the school. The first part is the wall hanging. Take a light brown piece of paper and fold it over a little less than half way, you want one side to be longer. On the folded part write or type out and glue on “For unto you is born this day a Savior who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11″. Then you will need some string or ribbon. Lay the ribbon into the fold of the paper and glue the folder part down to the other side. Tie a bow in the ribbon so it can be hung up. On the longer part of the paper, the non-glued section, you’re going to write the numbers 1-25 all across the bottom, then cut in between each number (like those flyers where you pull off the phone number to call). Leave them all attached to the rest of the wall hanging, this is the hay that the kids can pull off each day before Christmas and put in the manger they will make. The second part is the manger. You will need popsicle sticks, brown paint (optional), some squares of cloth, a little wooden figure or rounded wooden clothes pin from a craft store, school glue, and heavy craft glue. Next have the kids make the manger with popsicle sticks. I’ve done it where the make a box or the more traditional X shaped manger, it’s up to you how to make it and the age of the kids. If you want to get really involved the kids can paint the manger, but again that’s up to you. Then you have the kids wrap the wooden figure in the cloth and use the heavy craft glue to keep the cloth on the figure. If they want, they can draw a face on their baby Jesus. Then they can put the baby in the manger and tell them everyday they can put a piece of hay in the manger to give baby Jesus a soft bed to sleep on. Then when they put that last piece of hay in, it’s Jesus’ birthday! I’ve done this with my daughter at home the last couple years and she loves it. We sing Away in a Manger and she gives baby Jesus a tiny hug and kiss before she puts him back the manger with the new piece of hay everyday. It’s really fun and a different kind of advent calendar.
