Indianapolis is often called the Crossroads of America partly because of its easy accessibility. Half of the United States population can reach Indy within one day by car. The many interstates bisecting this city capital are part of its easy access. Indianapolis attracts almost 22 million visitors annually according to the Indiana Convention and Visitors Association. The attractions of this city are numerous. Indy has a unique ambiance that’s a mix of sophistication and Midwestern hospitality. Couples seeking a romantic get-away, racing fans and families looking for fun won’t have any difficulty finding things to do in Indianapolis. Visitors will find an underwater dolphin viewing dome and a shark touch tank at the zoo. The Indianapolis Children’s Museum is another fun location for parents and kids to visit. The five-level museum is the repository for more than 100,000 artifacts in more than ten galleries. Many of the exhibits at this learning center are interactive which a key to hands-on learning. A planetarium is also located inside the museum. The IMAX Indiana State Museum offers families an exiting and innovative entertainment experience. Many of the immersive 2D and 3D films are educational while some are pure entertainment. The Caribbean Cove Indoor Water Park at Holiday Inn North at the Pyramids boasts 50,000 square feet of indoor water recreation including body slides, a tube slide, activity pools, and a leisure river.
